SÉRGIO SANTOS VOICE & GUITAR

BRAZIL

Sérgio Santos is a composer, guitarist, and singer from the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. He started his musical career in 1982 as a singer with Milton Nascimento's show Missa dos Quilombos. Shortly after making its live recording, he abandoned architectural studies and devoted himself entirely to music in spite of being self-taught and having a limited musical background. With his refined harmonies, penetrating voice, and elegant guitar playing, his emerging talent captured the interest of music critics as well as some of Brazil's most distinguished lyricists – among them Cacaso, Fernando Brant, and Aldir Blanc. But he found his ideal partner in Paulo César Pinheiro. Together they have written nearly 200 songs, many of which have entered the repertoire of Brazil's leading musicians. To celebrate their twenty years of collaboration, Santos has released a new album entitled Rimanceiro comprised entirely of their work.
